Apple have announced the straight-to-series order for 'The Shrink Next Door' - an eight-part limited series based on the popular podcast of the same name. Stars Paul Rudd and Will Ferrell will be reunited on screen for the first time since 2013's 'Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues'.

The dark comedy, loosely based on true events sees celebrity psychiatrist Dr. Isaac “Ike” Herschkopf (Rudd), slowly weave his way into the life of his long-term patient Martin Markowitz (played by Ferrell) before completely taking it over.

Over the course of their relationship, the all-too-charming Ike slowly takes over Marty’s life, even moving into Marty’s Hamptons home and taking over his family business. The series explores how a seemingly normal doctor-patient dynamic morphs into an unprecedentedly exploitative relationship filled with manipulation, power grabs and dysfunction at its finest.

Directed by Michael Showalter ('The Big Sick') and based on the script by multi-award winner Georgia Pritchett ('Succession,' 'Veep'), 'The Shrink Next Door' is slated to premier worldwide on Apple TV+ next year.

This is the second Apple TV+ project with Will Ferrell attached. A musical remake of 'A Christmas Carol' is expected to debut on Apple's streaming service this coming holiday season.
