This time on Magic Rays of Light, Sigmund is joined by Ted Lasso star Cristo Fernández to discuss his inspirational journey from footballer to his starring role as Dani Rojas on the breakout hit Apple original series and Jonathan previews Apple's October event from an Apple TV perspective.
Apple have announced that its original comedy “Ted Lasso” will debut on TV+ this August. Jason Sudeikis reprises his role originally played for a viral ad campaign promoting NBCSN’s English Premier League coverage.
Apple describe the series as follows:
Ted Lasso is a small-time college football coach from Kansas hired to coach a professional soccer team in England, despite having no experience coaching soccer.
It is yet unknown who Ted Lasso will be coaching this time - previously coaching Tottenham Hotspur "The Tottingham Hotspurs." The mockumentary-style-comedy is expected to be set around a London-based club with filming wrapping up in England's capital last November.
Sudeikis also serves as executive producer, alongside Bill Lawrence (“Scrubs”) via his Doozer Productions, in association with Warner Bros. Television and Universal Television, a division of NBCUniversal Content.
Apple have signed the original comedy series to a multi-year deal. The company continues its efforts to bring live sports to its streaming service with the English Premier League broadcasting rights set for auction during the 2021/22 season.
